About

The Upper Khudi Hydropower Project is a run-of-river, high-head hydropower plant located in Lamjung District, Gandaki Province, Nepal. Positioned approximately 14 km from Besisahar and 188 km from Kathmandu, it harnesses the flow of the Khudi Khola, a tributary of the Marsyangdi River. The project has an installed capacity of 26 MW, generated from water with a gross head of 531.86 meters and a design discharge of 4.69 cubic meters per second. Owned and operated by Super Khudi Hydropower Pvt. Ltd., the plant contributes an estimated 129.19 GWh of electricity annually. The Upper Khudi project is situated upstream of the smaller Khudi Hydropower Project (4 MW). While detailed technical specifics such as turbine type, penstock dimensions, and transmission infrastructure are not publicly disclosed, the project significantly adds to Nepal’s renewable energy resources in the Gandaki region.
